Injection lipolysis – information for patients
Reducing fat deposits with fat-away injections
Injection lipolysis
Who doesn’t know them… those little pockets of fat on the stomach, hips, thighs, double chin or jowls that are impossible to get rid of despite a healthy diet and exercise?
Even when losing weight, these unwanted fat deposits do not always disappear where you would like them to. In such cases, injection lipolysis – also known as “fat-away injections” – may be just the right treatment for you.
This is a minimally invasive procedure that has a convincing effect on this type of problem area.
Since 2003, several hundred thousand procedures have been performed, giving our doctors extensive experience and knowledge, which is documented in the NETZWERK Lipolysis treatment protocol.
Treatment and effect
Your doctor will provide you with comprehensive information about the active ingredient used during a personal consultation.
During treatment, the active ingredient is injected directly into the fat deposit using a fine needle, which dissolves the fat, i.e. triggers lipolysis in the body.
The body transports the broken-down fat away via the lymphatic system and the liver to precisely the areas where the injections were administered. This is an intensification of natural processes that also occur elsewhere in the body.
Shortly after the injection, the patient notices a local reaction in the form of redness, burning, moderate pain or swelling. These symptoms subside after a few days. Doctors at NETZWERK have developed PSM (Pain And Side Effect Management). This involves the systematic application of special measures to alleviate any side effects that may occur. Patients describe the effects of Pain and Side Effect Management as very pleasant.
In recent years, the network has developed a second injection solution in cooperation with a Russian institute and a German pharmacy. This is intended to be a very useful addition to the existing therapy, namely
- for patients who are particularly sensitive to pain, as it has virtually no side effects.
- for the treatment area of the face, because the swelling that occurs with the lipolysis compound is virtually invisible, allowing patients to resume their social activities more quickly.
- For patients who want to see results very quickly, as the treatment interval can be reduced from 8 weeks to 2 weeks.
However, you should note that the treatment is also somewhat more expensive.
Regardless of which of the two injection solutions is used, the treatment usually results in a visible reduction in fat deposits within the next 2–8 weeks.
Your body contour changes in a slow, continuous process. This therapy is not suitable for severely overweight patients, and other measures should be considered. Treatment with lipolysis therapy is primarily recommended for people of normal weight with minor problem areas.
The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and lasts between 15 and 30 minutes, depending on the region.
On average, 2-4 sessions at intervals of 6-8 weeks (new active ingredient: 2-3 weeks) are necessary to achieve optimal results. More than 85% of patients are very satisfied with the results after 2-4 treatments.
Treatable regions are:
facial area
- double chin
- chin line
- cheeks
- jowls
- neck
body
- riding breeches
- Inner and outer thighs
- lower buttocks / transition to thigh
- Love handles / hips
- upper and lower abdomen
- Fat deposits on the shoulder-arm joints
- upper arms
- back sections
- Lipomas
What can I do myself to ensure the treatment is successful?
Patients who cooperate are very important for any therapy today. The relationship of “the doctor does it and I let him do it” is no longer up to date, also because of the latest findings on the therapy situation, and a different relationship is of fundamental importance for the results of any treatment.
What can you do or refrain from doing to improve the success of the therapy?
After treatment, you can
- take DEGOZYM, a dietary supplement developed by Netzwerk Ärzte, for natural immune balance.
- Take a walk at a moderate pace for 15-20 minutes twice a day.
- Avoid alcohol or reduce your alcohol consumption as much as possible during the first few weeks.
- Reduce fat and carbohydrates
- Practise dinner cancelling. This means not eating anything after 5 p.m.
After treatment, you should definitely
- Refrain from using the sauna for 7 days.
- Do not engage in strenuous exercise, such as workouts or jogging, for 7 days.
- Do not wear tight clothing for 7 days if it constricts the treated areas.
- Do not expose the treated areas to direct sunlight for 4 weeks.
- Do not undertake long journeys (more than 100 kilometres) immediately after treatment, or if you do, take a short walk every hour or so.
- follow any other instructions given by your doctor.

Education and information
Providing patients with comprehensive information about the therapy offered is a particular concern for NETZWERK doctors, as it gives you, the patient, a sound basis on which to make your decision. Advice on treatment options and objective information about all potential risks and side effects are a necessary and desired part of any treatment and form the basis of a trusting, long-term relationship between patient and treating physician.
It is important to our members to also inform you about alternative treatment options.
Further information on injection lipolysis can be found on the independent patient blog A Beautiful Health.
