Legally sound, practical and up to date as of 2026
The use of laser systems and intense light sources is subject to strict legal requirements under the NiSV (Regulation on Protection against Non-Ionising Radiation in Human Applications). Our two-day NiSV refresher course for doctors covers the classification and teaching of the required specialist knowledge in accordance with Section 5 NiSV (1) & (2) (Modules A & B) – including certification for ablative procedures subject to medical supervision.

Course programme: From the physical fundamentals to economic scaling
Our teaching approach combines flexible e-learning with an intensive in-person phase. You will familiarise yourself with the fundamentals of physics and the relevant theory via our digital learning platform, so that the on-site sessions can focus on practical application.
1. Legal basis & NiSV framework
- Classification under the NiSG and NiSV: Distinction between medical and cosmetic use.
- Reporting and documentation requirements, as well as operator responsibility.
- Current status in 2026: Legal assessment and future control structures.
- Medical professional requirement: Which laser treatments may only be carried out by medical professionals?
2. Technology & Tissue Interaction
- The physics of laser types: CO₂, Er:YAG, Nd:YAG, diode lasers and IPL/OPL.
- Selective photothermolysis and the selection of parameters based on the indication.
- Safety: Information on the laser safety officer (OStrV / TROS) and risk management.
3. Clinical indications & practice
- Vascular & Pigment: Treatment of lesions, tattoos and nail fungus.
- Ablation & Rejuvenation: Narbenbehandlung, Skin Rejuvenation und CO₂-Laser-Indikationen.
- Hair removal: Permanent hair removal using laser and IPL.
- Live demonstration: Treatments on volunteers to illustrate clinical settings and patient management.
4. Cost-effectiveness & Strategy
- Investment protection: Criteria for the procurement of laser systems and the drafting of contracts with manufacturers.
- Billing: Calculation in accordance with the GOÄ (current and future structures).
